Novell has reduced the cost of its Linux offering for the IBM System z mainframe platform.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z is designed to help users consolidate applications and reduce their overall cost of ownership.

Novell said SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z enables users to consolidate distributed workloads onto System z servers, to help minimise costs, reduce downtime and datacentre complexity, as well as increase flexibility.
Under the new pricing, customers can purchase a three-year basic subscription to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z for the cost of two years, which is a 33% saving on the previous price.
A five-year basic subscription to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z can now be bought for the previous price of three years, for a 47% discount.
