Halifax bank offers security advice

Karl Flinders

High street bank Halifax is offering its online customers advice on how to secure their online experience through its Security Centre.

The service will provide information on security such as advice about firewalls and anti-virus software.

It will also test a customers understanding of security and inform them about security threats such as phishing scams, trojans and viruses.

A lack of awareness is often responsible for allowing phishing scams to proliferate with user education complimentary to security systems.

Shoomon Perry, head of ecommerce, said, "We make every effort to ensure customers' online security, but there are some simple steps everyone can take to stay safe online."

"Using a firewall to prevent hackers from accessing your computer is a wise step, as is choosing a password that is hard for someone else to guess but easy for you to remember," said Parry.
