UK ahead of US in ITIL best practice adoption

The UK is leading the US in the take up of ITIL best practice IT service management adoption.

A report published by analyst Aberdeen Group on behalf of IT service management firm Axios Systems says the UK is ahead of the US, with uptake there to take off in the next 12 months.

ITIL is designed to help firms make sure that IT processes are closely aligned to the business.

The results show that 55% of European organisations are currently using the framework compared with 33% in North America. Only 11% of European companies and 24% in North America have no plans to deploy the framework.

Ralph Rodriguez, an analyst at Aberdeen Group, said, "Our research indicates that following the ITIL best practice guidelines can provide substantial bottom-line results and those businesses that implement ITSM (IT service management) well are receiving more than their fair share of the benefits."
