Cisco expands branch office offering to improve network optimisation

Cisco has extended its Empowered Branch framework with the introduction of products and services to improve the network performance of branch offices.

Cisco has extended its Empowered Branch framework with the introduction of products and services to improve the network performance of branch offices.

The offerings cover improved security, unified communications, application acceleration, wireless services and overall network optimisation.

The products include the Cisco 1861 Integrated Services Router (ISR) which offers an all-in-one unified communications system and highly secure routing platform.

There is also the Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series Switches with Lan Lite Cisco IOS Software, which offers a cost-effective way to upgrade from non-intelligent network hubs, said Cisco.

There is also the Cisco Intrusion Prevention System Advanced Integration Module (IPS AIM), the Cisco IOS Performance Routing (PfR) and High-End Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) Network Module, and the Wireless Lan Controller system for supporting IEEE 802.11n Wi-Fi services.
