The DSL broadband market grew strongly in the second quarter crossing the 25 million DSL port mark for the first time, according to research firm Ovum RHK.
The 16% growth on the second quarter of last year was fuelled by a big rise in shipments to the Asia-Pacific market, which exceeded 10 million ports.
In addition, there was continued demand from operators deploying IPTV and next-generation networks in North America and EMEA, said Kamalini Ganguly, an analyst at Ovum RHK.
"Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei remained number one and two in the DSL market, with both vendors recording their highest-ever shipments," said Ganguly.
Cable broadband modem port shipments also saw a 10% year-on-year rise.
