Bob Beauchamp, BMC chief executive officer, said, “Transactions are the life-blood of all businesses.

The acquisition of Identify's application problem resolution technology will extend BMC's leadership in transaction management.”

“The Identify solution reinforces BMC's capability in the J2EE and .net development environments and directly supports BMC business service management (BSM) strategy, by providing visibility into the execution of an application that supports a business service,” said Forrester analyst JP Garbani.

Garbani said Identify's application problem resolution capabilities complement BMC's BSM capabilities to look into application performance and map the infrastructure supporting application delivery.

Identify's customers are typically mid-size to large-scale enterprise organisations. Identify has more than 500 customers covering the financial services, insurance, healthcare, public sector, retail, manufacturing, and energy sectors.

BMC expects the acquisition to be completed in the first three months of the new fiscal year.
