Microsoft rolls out licensing price tool to Europe

Antony Savvas

Microsoft is rolling out its Microsoft Product Licensing Advisor (MPLA) tool to European users, so they can make better judgements as to how much Microsoft products will cost them.

The MPLA helps address complaints among many users that Microsoft’s licensing is too complicated.

Microsoft introduced the MPLA at the end of last year to help customers choose the most appropriate type of license for their use.

Until now, the tool has only been able to give prices in US dollars, but the service will now give prices in users’ local currencies.

The tool is aimed at volume license customers. Once they have made a decision after using the on-line tool, they can contact a Microsoft reseller to confirm prices.

All the information for European users will still be in English. Other languages will be supported by this June.
