Philip Freeborn, global chief information officer at UBS, is leaving to join Barclays Capital as managing director and CIO.

Freeborn will join Barclays Bank’s investment banking division next January and will report to Rich Ricci, Barclays Capital chief operating officer.

Freeborn has worked at UBS for 12 years, and is replacing Kevin O'Reilly, who joined accounting firm Deloitte as a partner earlier this week.

Ricci said, “I’m delighted to welcome Philip to the firm. He brings a wealth of experience and proven capability that will ensure we continue to provide first class technology solutions for our business and clients.

“Philip enjoys a strong industry reputation for strategic vision coupled with execution skills, which will help us maintain our position at the forefront of IT innovation,” said Ricci.

Don Trotta became the CIO at Barclays Bank earlier this year. He joined from Citibank.
