BMC aims at sharper identity management

Cliff Saran

BMC has delivered the next component of its integration management strategy with a suite of products designed to help businesses run identity-aware applications.

The products form an integrated suite providing directory management and visualisation, access management, user administration and provisioning, password management, and audit and compliance management, BMC said.

The BMC Identity Discovery software provides users with a mechanism for populating the BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database with identity data. BMC said this allows users to link hardware and software assets to specific users in an organisation.

The BMC Identity Compliance Manager provides a dashboard to help users track, manage and archive policy exceptions.

A third component, BMC Identity Federation Manager, is designed to provide internal and external users with the correct level of access to IT systems. It supports identity specifications  including SAML 1.0, SAML 2.0, Liberty ID-FF 1.0, WS-Federation (including Microsoft ADFS) and Shibboleth.
