Siemens buys Garderos for wireless integration platform

Siemens has strengthened its wireless broadband offering to operators with the takeover of Garderos for an undisclosed sum.

Garderos is one of the leading suppliers of operational support software used by operators and its system will form a strategic element of the Siemens wireless integration platform.

This platform is designed to enable fast and flexible integration of WLan, WiMax and Flash-OFDM networks with mobile and fixed-line networks.

The system also allows wireless broadband customers to use a number of functions from the large operator networks, such as billing, roaming or authentication.

"Our wireless integration platform ensures that our customers can add wireless broadband services to their portfolio cost-effectively and generate extra profit from their existing infrastructure," said Christoph Caselitz, head of mobile networks at Siemens Communications.
