Rolls-Royce's marine business is deploying enterprise resource planning, supply chain management and collaborative order management technology from SSA Global.

The software will be used to improve visibility into the company’s internal supply chain to manage inventory better, deliver products more quickly and enhance after-market capabilities.

Rolls-Royce has contracted SSA Global’s application management services division to help it roll out the enterprise system to more than 2,000 users at facilities in 22 countries.

The application management services team will provide 24/7 global support throughout the roll-out along with support and maintenance of the applications in each location.

* At its annual Global Client Forum in Orlando, Florida, SSA Global announced the general availability of SSA Open Architecture 5.1, an open-standards technology platform designed to give users a flexible path for implementing a service-oriented architecture (SOA).

The new version includes enhancements to SSA Portal Studio, SSA Collaboration Services and the new Eclipse-based SSA Studio for modelling and customisations. It also provides a new unified user management and support for single sign-on.
