Microsoft is planning "deep integration" between its Office personal productivity software and its Dynamics business applications, which it launched last week.

Users will be able to access Microsoft CRM Business in their Outlook contacts and diary, and Excel will be able to import data direct from Microsoft's enterprise resource planning product, said Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.

Microsoft is initially targeting medium-sized businesses with its Dynamics business applications but analysts said the software company's long-term ambition would be to take on enterprise software suppliers such as SAP, Siebel and Oracle.
