City firms use jobs board to recruit women

An online job board for female IT professionals is being used by some City firms to recruit staff.

Citigroup, Lehman Brothers, Accenture and Credit Suisse First Boston are among the companies using the service to fill vacancies in their IT departments.

The website, Women in Technology, was set up in March as an information resource for women in the ITprofession.

The number of women working in IT has fallen in recent years and they currently account for less than 20% of the ITworkforce.

Explaining the need for the website, Women in Technology marketing manager Karen Durham-Diggins said, "Until now, there has been no specialist supply channel."

The site provides advice on how to write an effective CV, networking and interview techniques.
