Socitm has invited young IT professionals in the public sector to apply for its travel award, the Graham Williamson Challenge.

The winner gets a chance to take a short work placement in a local authority abroad, with a budget of up to £5,000 to cover transport, accommodation and related expenses.

The challenge was established in 2004 in memory of Graham Williamson, former head of IT at Argyll & Bute Council and an active member of the society.

Candidates must write 500 words describing why they ought to be selected. Entries close on 19th August, and the winner will be announced at the Socitm National Conference on 18 October.
