Google has rolled out a new search engine service tailored to users of mobile devices with small screens, such as mobile phones and personal digital assistants.

The service will only provide links to web pages formatted for downloading onto small screens.

The XHTML-based service downloads information using a hybrid combination of HTML- and XML-based code, and displays both text and graphics.

When users select the new Mobile Web button on the Google engine, they will receive links only to pages formatted for smaller displays.
