CW writer shortlisted for top business award

Computer Weekly reporter

Computer Weekly's executive editor Tony Collins has been shortlisted for the title of Best Business Commentator in the Business Journalist of the Year awards, to be held on 27 April in London.

The high-profile event will bring together broadcast and print journalists from organisations including the Wall Street Journal, the Economist, the BBC, the Financial Times, Business Week and Fortune.

Collins was picked out by the judges for his articles on HM Revenue & Customs. He is up against commentators writing for the Daily Mail, Bloomberg News and the Independent.

Hooman Bassirian, Computer Weekly's editor, said, "This is due recognition for Tony's outstanding work and is a testament to the journalistic standards of Computer Weekly. Tony's insightful analysis of the IT problems facing the Revenue has consistently captured the interest of our readers."

The nomination came a week after Computer Weekly's Making the Tax System Work campaign was shortlisted for the PPA Editorial Campaign of the Year award.
