Postini adds more layers of enterprise security

Enterprise e-mail security and management provider Postini has opened new datacentres in the UK and Netherlands, offering additional processing facilities with an extra layer of local, enterprise-level security.

The company has also added a second anti-virus engine to its Perimeter Manager solution, providing multilayered protection.

The enhancements underline Postini's expanding global position in the security industry, particularly in Europe, where multilayered protection has become essential.

Postini has also joined with Authentium for additional virus protection. Authentium serves more than 2,000 enterprise customers and two million users, and provides anti-virus technology for gateway messaging security. Authentium’s anti-virus complements the McAfee technology embedded in Perimeter Manager.

Postini's connection-level blocking, a network effect of millions of users and its attachment manager capabilities provide multiple layers of anti-virus, further improving its ability to detect and stop attacks.

"We are seeing an accelerating demand in Europe for a managed service approach, backed by robust processing capabilities,” said Scott Petry, founder and senior vice-president of products and engineering at Postini. “We're also finding that in Europe the multilayered anti-virus protection is a high priority in the selection criteria for solutions."
