Indian outsourcers face bomb threats

Antony Savvas

Bangalore-based outsourcers Wipro and Infosys Technologies had their corporate headquarters evacuated earlier this week as a result of bomb scares.

No bombs were found, but the threats are part of a continuing wave of intimidation against companies that form the backbone of India’s growing and lucrative IT industry.

A smaller Wipro office was targeted as part of a previous hoax and all the scares could be linked to reported plans made by separatist terrorists to de-stabilise Bangalore’s software companies.

British companies, which are increasingly outsourcing software development work to India, may now have to make sure that their offshore partners’ business continuity plans are up to scratch.
