Security is a key theme of this year’s CeBit trade show, with a focus on mobile device security.

Security software firm Kaspersky Lab is showcasing Kaspersky Guard @Net 5.0, an enterprise product which it describes as a "virtual security appliance".

It is a content security management tool designed to protect enterprise networks running on Linux against viruses, hackers and spam. It uses a virtual private network to protect networks that cover multiple sites.

Kaspersky is also launching Anti-Virus 5.5 for Microsoft ISA Server 2000 Enterprise Edition to protect corporate networks; SMTP-Gateway for Linux-Unix, an e-mail filtering product; and demonstrating a beta of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Microsoft Exchange Server. It is also introducing mobile security products.

Security supplier Utimaco is unveiling a product to protect against data theft and manipulation. Safeguard PDA 3.0 provides intelligent authentication and encryption technology for handheld devices. It can encrypt files, directories and internal databases.

Safeguard Advanced Security can control the use of plug-and-play devices such as memory sticks.
