DaimlerChrysler has signed a deal worth millions of euros with Dassault company Delmia to implement a new manufacturing software solution for its Mercedes car plants across the world.

DaimlerChrysler will use Delmia’s Digital Factory software at its Mercedes group for planning and optimisation processes, car assembly, bodywork manufacturing, chassis and assembly production, and logistics.

Günter Walz, head of production planning at Mercedes, said, “This solution supports supplier co-operation and enables the company to distribute work amongst several locations, while reducing costs and shortening production time.”

DaimlerChrysler recently re-organised its senior IT management to bring technology changes closer to the needs of the business.
