Hewlett-Packard and Cisco Systems are integrating Cisco's network switching technology into the HP Bladesystem architecture to improve performance.

The suppliers are working to link HP's Bladesystem with the new Cisco Gigabit Ethernet Switch Module, which can reduce overall costs by increasing efficiency across datacentre infrastructure.

The aim is to deliver consistent network services, including high availability, security, quality of service and manageability.

"By incorporating Cisco's advanced switching technology into our blade offerings, HP will offer simplified networking and management and reduce complexity and cost," said Rick Becker, vice-president and general manager of the HP Bladesystem Organisation.
