Cumbria County Council has selected IT service company Agilisys for a £50m IT partnership deal.

Agilisys will provide a full range of change management and ICT service over the seven-year agreement, due to start in March.

The contract will come into effect 11 months after Agilisys was named preferred supplier by Cumbria.

Cumbria has a population of 491,000 and is the second-largest county in England. Cumbria County Council spends about £500m annually with a workforce of 17,800.

Aguilisys beat off rival bidders BT, ITNET and Capita to win the contract. It has already provide IT service to social services, education, council offices and customer contact centre while preferred supplier bidder.

County councillor, Kevan Wilkinson adds, "We have been working closely with Agilisys over the past months and they have already clearly demonstrated their ability to help us use technology to transform the way in which we deliver services to the people of Cumbria."
