Law firm adopts Wan

Russell Cooke Solicitors, a 230-strong company with three London offices, has chosen Ethernet technology for a newly established internet Wan.

The move away from more expensive leased lines to an Ethernet-based Wan has enabled the company to benefit from 10 times the amount of bandwidth, for less than twice what they were paying for the previous 256K connection from UUNet.

Exponential-e is supplying Russell Cooke with the new internet connection.

The 5Mbps bandwidth delivers greater flexibility to the company since the Ethernet circuit can be split into multiple virtual circuits (VLANs).

Russell Cooke will now have the ability to connect to a range of applications, such as remote data storage and hosting facilities, from the one line.

Ken O’Neill, a partner at Russell Cooke, said,  “Ethernet in the Wan is the latest cutting edge technology and facilitates multiple services from one connection.”
