SonicWall has launched a cut-price firewall/VPN security appliance for small businesses for about £220.
The TZ 150 supports gateway ant-virus protection, content filtering and intrusion prevention.
"There is no such thing as a small-business virus," said Matthew Medeiros, SonicWall chief executive. "A two-person operation is just as exposed as a large organisation to attacks from gateway traffic, yet until today protection was beyond many small firms’ price range or IT capabilities."

The TZ 150 supports SonicWall’s gateway anti-virus and intrusion prevention service, which is capable of scanning unlimited numbers of files for viruses. This service provides updated protection against threats, including buffer overflows, worms, trojans and backdoor exploits.
Jeff Wilson, an analyst at Infonetics Research, said, "The combination of affordable price, security capabilities and ease of operation of this appliance is well suited to the needs of branch office networks, small businesses and managed security service provider clients."
The TZ 150 comes with a 30-day free subscription to SonicWall’s gateway anti-virus and intrusion prevention service and content filtering service.
