Slough leads UK with wireless symmetrical broadband service

Antony Savaas
Slough Trading Estate, made famous by "The Office" TV series, has become the first place in the UK to offer BT’s wireless symmetrical broadband service to firms.

The Slough service is available exclusively from Nouveau Solutions.

“Until now, some businesses within the Slough Trading Estate have had difficulty with accessing standard ADSL/SDSL broadband services, due to their distance from the exchange”, said Andy Stevens, Nouveau Solutions managing director.

“Companies have either had to struggle with a slow dial-up connection or connect via expensive private circuits involving high set up costs and expensive annual fees.

"Those taking up the wireless business symmetric broadband service will leapfrog existing broadband technologies to obtain speeds up to eight times faster than standard broadband,” he said.

Symmetrical broadband allows firms to send data as fast as receiving it. The wireless broadband service from BT allows connections in both directions at typical speeds of around 2Mbps.
