PalmOne joins e-prescription initiative

PalmOne is to work with US health apps supplier HealthRamp to develop electronic prescribing solutions.

HealthRamp bought 200 of palmOne's wireless-enabled Tungsten C handhelds with the intention of loading them with HealthRamp's CarePoint e-prescribing software and distributing the systems to doctors.

The company said it hopes to distribute 2,000 Tungsten Cs and Treo 600 smartphones to physicians this year. The two companies are also working together on physician education programmes to boost e-prescribing.
