Is role of the IT director waning?
The powers of the IT director and chief information officer are in decline, according to Mike Norris, chief executive of IT reseller Computacenter.
Speaking at the UK Technology Partnering and Investment Forum in London last week, Norris said, "We went through a period where the CIO was seen as a business driver, an innovator, somebody who took the business forward, someone who brought revenue opportunities to the business. I think that has gone.
"The IT director role has fallen backwards into delivering a service to the business at the most effective cost."

Is Norris right? If so, should IT directors be concerned? Let us know your views e-mail:
