DWP recruits IT chiefs

The Child Support Agency's parent organisation, the Department for Work and Pensions, has recruited a plethora of senior IT executives from the private sector to help lead an IT-based modernisation.

Among the appointments at the DWP are Robert Westcott, a former chief information officer at General Motors, as chief information officer and group director of programme and systems delivery, and Kenny Robertson, from Vertex Customer Management, who is chief technology officer. They are joined by senior technologists from Norwich Union and Royal SunAlliance.

New IS directors from Compaq, Accenture, NatWest and Schroders have also been appointed. In addition, a team of troubleshooters has been formed which includes IT and project management staff from BT, British Airways, Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, and Tesco.
