The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the US Secret Service are investigating the latest attack on the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)'s website, which has been offline for days.

"We are working to get our site restored so the press and public can continue to get the information they want and need from the RIAA," spokeswoman Amy Weiss said.

The RIAA site has come under attack in recent months, apparently as a result of the group's efforts to stamp out online piracy.

However, Weiss added: "We will continue to fight theft on the internet and work hard to make sure songwriters, artists and other copyright holders continue to get paid for their work."
