Thieves bag £4.6m chip haul at Heathrow

Thieves grabbed a £4.6m consignment of Intel Pentium chips from Heathrow airport on Sunday (12 January).

The robbery occurred when an American Airlines van was briefly left unattended at a warehouse building outside the airport's security perimeter.

The chips were believed to have been part of a consignment from Miami and it was not yet known whether they had been flown in to Heathrow or were to be flown out of the airport.

In October thieves got away with £3m worth of Korean-manufactured chips from a cargo service centre near Heathrow.
