The new HP.com business-to-business site is the first initiative to come out of the HP eBusiness group since the company's merger with Compaq Computer in May.
The Web tool will allow customers to collaborate with their HP account teams and partners online so they can streamline their e-commerce activity through services such as global order tracking, reporting and support, said Marius Haas, worldwide vice-president of eBusiness at HP.
"This builds on the strengths of the two companies and brings added value to customers," Haas said. "Customers have told us that they want a highly efficient way to interact and transact business [with HP]."
The Web site offers features such as:
- Enhanced order status capabilities, including the ability to track purchases from both premerger companies whether placed online, by phone or fax
- Order history and reporting capabilities that allow customers to manage their purchasing activity with HP
- A single integrated product catalogue to purchase HP and Compaq products through one site
Collaboration tools to communicate and work with a company's HP account team online.
The new site will be fully deployed in North America by the end of next month, Haas said. It is scheduled to launch in 15 languages in 180 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in early next year, followed by the Asia-Pacific region.
