Sapphire: SAP launches global custom development unit

SAP is launching a unit to provide customers with direct access to its developers, partners and e-business experts who can plan and execute custom development projects, the company announced at its Sapphire customer conference and trade show in Lisbon.

The unit, SAP Global Custom Development Services, will consolidate SAP's custom development resources in a single global organisation. The unit will provide a full range of development services, including development project management, project assessment, development methodology, solution design and programming. In addition, it will deliver complete projects as well as individual project components as required.

SAP Global Custom Development Services will consist of staff members from SAP's existing custom project, strategic development and other project teams, operating out of Germany, and the US.

Andrea Roesinger, senior vice-president and general manager of SAP Global Solution Center EMEA, and Harald Stuckert, senior vice-president and general manager of the SAP Global Solution Center Americas, will manage the unit. Both executives will report directly to SAP co-chairman and chief executive officer Henning Kagermann.
