Coca-Cola cuts 140 IT jobs

The Coca-Cola Company has said that it will cut 140 IT jobs as part of the company's restructuring effort.

The company did employ 750 IT workers in Atlanta in the USA and 250 worldwide.

The IT department handles all IT needs for the company including telecommunications, data warehousing, data collection and helpdesk.

White said the reorganisation, which will more realign IT closely with the company's business needs, has been in the works since Coca-Cola's new chief information officer came on board in February.

She said the focus of the IT department will now be on projects that affect customers, rather than internal projects.
