Business brisk in run-up to Microsoft deadline

James Rogers
As Computer Weekly went to press Microsoft's UK licensing manager, Sue Page, confirmed that business has been brisk in the run-up to 31 July's midnight deadline for its new licensing programme.

Ideal Hardware, a Microsoft reseller, said it expected to do £5m worth of business on 31 July alone, staying open until midnight to capitalise on the late rush.

Initial signs show that Microsoft is already reaping the benefits of the new licensing regime - its world-wide revenue for the year to June was up 12% on the $25.3bn (£168.8m) reported for the previous year.
