Recruitment agencies endorse HR-XMLproposal

The six sponsors of the HR-XML (Human Resource Extensible Markup Language) Consortium have endorsed a specification it developed for information exchange between recruitment organisations and their customers.

Sides 1.0 (Staffing Industry Data Exchange Standards) has been developed over the past year by the non-profit consortium, based on a proposal from six sponsor companies: Adecco, Kelly Services, Manpower, Ranstad, Vedior and Spherion.

The consortium said that the specification is designed to make information exchange within the staffing industry more efficient and cost effective. The sponsor companies, in a joint "letter of endorsement" urged others in the industry to adopt Sides 1.0 as soon as possible.

Sides 1.0 will be explained to the industry at the upcoming Staffing Industry Executive Forum in San Francisco next Tuesday (7 May).

Anthony Martin, chairman and chief executive officer of Vedior, will give the keynote speech, and Chuck Allen, executive director of the HR-XML Consortium, will outline the business benefits of Sides, and the technology behind it, according to a statement from Staffing Industry Analysts Inc., which is running the forum.
