The product is a physical layer system and it includes a family of intelligent patch panels, patch-cords, scanners and SQL-based software.
It works from any local, network or Web connection and offers constant real-time information on communications between users anywhere in the world. The rollout is international and Brand-Rex will sell the product in Europe, Australasia and Asia Pacific.
"According to Datapro, 75 per cent of organisations with more than 1,000 desktops will have initiated asset tracking programs as a way to control IT costs by 2002," said Richard Whiting, managing director of Brand-Rex's Datacom division.
An extensive channel programme has been launched as a result of the new product. New training courses will kick-off early in the new year and the company is looking at new distribution and channel partners.
The company has yet to name any of its new partners publicly, but previous deals have involved Mayflex, Grant and Taylor, Trescray, Bailey Telecom and others.
