The computer printer specialist is continuing its development of matrix printing technology, which it claims is ideally suited to pervasive printing applications.
In recent years, many mono lasers have been bought to do these jobs but at much higher running costs for the buyer. Typically, matrix comes in at less than 0.2p per page. General manager for sales and marketing, Gary Hunter explains: "We have good evidence that resellers can make a minimum of 25 per cent gross margin on the actual sale of the printer. They can also get a further 20 per cent margin on selling Tally Maintenance and an extra 20 per cent on selling consumables."
In terms of opportunities for upsell, many dealers use printers as a mechanism for other sales, such as print servers and Ethernet connections, which can add another 15 per cent to the margin."
