Terror in the US: IT execs killed on hijacked plane

Daniel C Lewin, co-founder and chief technology officer of Internet communication company Akamai Technologies, and Edmund Glazer, chief financial officer of California-based optical networking company MRV Communications, were killed in yesterday's terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre.

Both men were on board American Airlines Flight 11, the first of the hijacked planes to crash into the World Trade Centre.

Lewin was 31 years old and is survived by his wife and two sons. MRV's Glazer was 41 years old and is survived by his wife and son.

Akamai provides a content delivery service for leading Web technology firms. MRV is a holding company for several optical networking companies including Luminent, Optical Access, Touch Communications, Cescomm and NBase-Xyplex.
