EDS wins £200m outsourcing contract

EDS has signed a ten year, £200 million contract to provide IT services to Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society, the UK's largest friendly society.

Liverpool Victoria will outsource all its IT support to EDS so it can concentrate on its core area of financial services. As part of the contract 200 Liverpool Victoria staff will transfer to EDS under the regulation of a TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings of Protection of Employment) operation. In addition, a further 70 contractors will also transfer to EDS.

By outsourcing its IT service, Liverpool Victoria hope to reduce costs and benefit from systems that are aligned with its business requirements enabling it to bring products to the market more quickly.

EDS said it has also won a contract with Aon Corporation, a risk management services provider, to manage its IT in the UK. The value of the contract was undisclosed although it is believed to be in the region of £300 million.
