HP puts former SAP CEO at the helm
HP has announced Leo Apotheker as its new CEO. He was formerly the CEO at SAP, where he led 18 straight quarters of revenue growth. The vendor has also announced that Ray Lane, a former president of Oracle, will take up the role of non-executive chairman. Both men move into their new positions as of November 1.
GlassHouse and Login partner in desktop virtualisation services
Reseller GlassHouse Technologies and IT service provider Login Consultants have partnered to jointly deliver desktop virtualisation services worldwide. The agreement aims to help organisations better plan, design and deliver their desktop virtualisation projects.
HP revamps partner programme
HP channel partners that commit to selling the vendor's entire portfolio will set to gain more premiums in the company's revamped partner programme. HP has also simplified its deal registration by reducing the amount of clicks needed to enter the programme from 11 to five.
IBM to make buildings green
IBM has said that it will be rolling out new software and services to help organisations make their buildings more energy effective. IBM claims its sustainability management system and building management systems can gather real-time data from different systems such as heating, lighting or elevators. The first buildings to use the technology will be IBM's own, including its Armonk, N.Y. headquarters and its Rochester, Minn. manufacturing facility.
BAE Systems recruits Camwood for application migration help
BAE Systems has called upon application migration specialist Camwood to help in its infrastructure overhaul project. BAE will be migrating all of its business critical applications onto the Microsoft Applications Virtualisation (App-V) platform and refreshing its desktop estate under the myIT Desktop project. The whole project will cover up to 37,500 PC users across the company.
