Gartner says CIOs should plan for second recession
If a second recession unfolds in the next 12 to 18 months, no CIO should be forgiven for being unprepared, according to analyst Gartner. The firm has suggested, because of the growing belief that economic recovery may not be possible this year, that all CIOs should prepare themselves for another downturn by creating a clear plan of action.
"Just the potential for a second business downturn should be sufficient to compel CIOs to plan for another business downturn," said Ken McGee, a vice president and research analyst with Gartner. "However, most CIOs will not have a response strategy prepared if a second business downturn occurs."
