The Law Society signs deal with TCS

Kathleen Hall

The Law Society of England and Wales has signed a deal with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to create online services for its members.

The deal follows the implementation of the Legal Services Act (LSA) due to come into effect in 2011, which will enable organisations like Tesco, the Co-op and the AA to offer legal services.

TCS' applications will enable the Law Society to manage the changes brought on by the LSA by improving efficiencies. TCS will review the society's business processes, information practices and systems needs.

Steve Jeffree, CIO and operations director at the Law Society, said, "As a result of the changing nature of the Society, we not only needed a platform that provided the maximum opportunity for the transformation, but also a partner with legal domain knowledge and deep competencies in application development and its implementation."
