Google rolls out new style profile pages

Google has launched a new profile page for all account holders, which the company says highlights the most important information.

Existing Google Profiles will update to the new style automatically, which the company also claims will enable user to "control and enrich" their public profile.

"While profiles work well for individuals, we'll continue to work on new ways for businesses to engage with their customers, so stay tuned for updates," said Google product manager Greg Marra in a blog post.

Analysts say the new Google Profiles represent yet another element Google has added as it works towards establishing a wider social platform that could eventually rival Facebook.
