Tesco's store and product finding iPhone application, Tesco Finder, has reached one million downloads.

The free app, which allows users to locate stores in the UK, build product lists and find product aisle and shelf locations, was launched in October 2009.

Nick Lansley, head of research and development at Tesco.com, said in his Tech for Tesco blog, "The anonymous customer who made the millionth request was duly advised to head to aisle 23, unit four on the left hand side and the third shelf up from the floor to find the searched for 'Bovril'."

The latest version of the app, version 2.1, includes barcode scanning and ability to delete shopping lists using the iPhone swipe gesture.

Tesco also built the "world's first" visual search app for iPhone last year. Using Cortexica Vision Systems,, the app allows users to view information about wine.
