CA Technologies will extend its cloud security services with the acquisition of fraud prevention company Arcot Systems.
The $200m (£129m) acquisition will add Arcot Systems' software-only credit card fraud prevention and authentication technology to CA Technologies's identity and access management (IAM) offerings. Combined with the CA SiteMinder portfolio, Arcot Systems will help customers reduce risk, support regulatory compliance and complete secure transactions, said CA Technologies.

"Identity is a critical area for security whether you are talking about in-house or the cloud, and with 120 million identities verified by our solutions today, we bring a strong, solid recurring revenue base as well as sources of new growth opportunities for CA Technologies," said Ram Varadarajan, president and CEO at Arcot Systems.
CA Technologies' cloud security strategy aims to enable organisations to extend existing on-premises IAM systems to support cloud applications and services, provide secure IAM technology to cloud providers and enable IAM services from the cloud.
The acquisition fast-tracks CA Technologies IAM cloud services, with 120 million identities already verified using the Arcot technology, said the firm.
The transaction is expected to complete by 30 September 2010.
Last month CA Technologies introduced cloud management tools for the Amazon EC2 cloud.
