Google enables single browser sign-on for multiple accounts

Google is rolling out functionality that will enable users to sign in to multiple Google accounts simultaneously from the same browser.

This means holders of multiple Google accounts will not have to use separate browsers to access them one at a time, according to the Google OS blog.

Gmail users, for example, can read messages from two or more Gmail accounts by opening Gmail in multiple tabs.

The multiple sign-in feature, available on the Google accounts page, works for Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sites, Google Reader, Google Voice, App Engine and Google Code.

When multiple sign-in is enabled, a drop-down is displayed at the top of the page to enable users to switch between accounts.

Multiple sign-in is not yet available for all Google accounts. It is also not available on mobile devices and Google Calendar's gadget does not work properly in Gmail, Google developers warn.
