HP has introduced a suite of products optimised for Microsoft Communications Server "14," the next version of Microsoft's unified communications platform.

The suite includes z1, the HP Survivable Branch Communication, which combines Microsoft Communications Server "14" and HP ProCurve software within HP ProCurve Switch 8200zl and 5400zl series products. It offers what HP describes as "a reliable distributed public switched telephone network backup", which can be used in case of wide area network failure.

Four existing HP PCs have been certified for the Microsoft platform, which are capable of using video and audio conferencing without requiring additional hardware.

The HP TouchSmart 9100 Business PC is aimed at businesses in hospitality, retail, healthcare and government verticals.

The EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC claims all-day battery life and offers vibration, dust, humidity, altitude and high temperature protection.

And the EliteBook 8530w and 8730w Mobile Workstations use high-performance graphics cards for workstation applications.
