PayPal provides mobile apps payment in IBM cloud

Online payment service PayPal is extending its PayPal X global payments platform into the cloud to support IBM's cloud service.

The company is working with IBM Cloud Labs to enable software developers to charge for mobile phone apps.

"We want to provide a very simple way to make payments available on all platforms, including mobile applications," said Osama Bedier, PayPal's vice-president of platform and emerging technologies.

The IBM cloud provides a platform for a developer community for creating, developing and testing new applications. The platform supports Linux through Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SuSE Linux Enterprise from Novell Cloud.

IBM's Rational lifecycle software is available via the IBM cloud. The Rational Software Delivery Services for Cloud Computing v1.0 includes a collection of Rational's software to support development and delivery teams. IBM said the suite enables IT teams to collaborate and quickly develop, test and deploy technology-based business initiatives.
