London Stock Exchange puts in new IT head at Turquoise

Karl Flinders

The London Stock Exchange has announced a new management team for Turquoise including the creation of the position of head of technology.

Mark Ryland, previously head of technology at Baikal, joins David Lester who was CIO at the London Stock Exchange before becoming CEO of the combined Baikal and Turquoise.

The appointment of Ryland raises questions about the future of current IT head at Turquoise Yann L'Huillier, who joined as CTO when Turquoise was launched. He built the Turquoise IT infrastructure from scratch using highly customised off-the-shelf software.

Other appointments announced by the London exchange are Adrian Farnham as chief operating officer, Natan Tiefenbrun as commercial director and Anthony Ball as chief financial officer.

The London Stock Exchange last month appointed former American Stock Exchange CIO Antoine Shagoury as group CIO to head up its migration to MillenniumIT.
