Jane Kimberlin, IT director at Domino's Pizza has raised £50,000 for cancer charities. Kimberlin raised the money after celebrating her 50th birthday by organising a sponsored bike ride.

Fifty of Kimberlin's friends and colleagues agreed to ride 50 miles to raise funds for Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Care.

"I had done a lot of training to make sure I could do it. I knew I could get up all the hills. The difficult part was persuading other people to do the ride," she said

"People were fantastically generous with time and money. I had no problem getting people to marshal the event, donating time, water and chocolate."

The event was sponsored by Kimberlin's village shop, which donated crisps and snacks, and Domino's Pizza's Kingsthorpe store, which fed pizzas to the participants at the end of the ride.
